Summary
Psylocke is called in to Xavier's mansion and, supervised by Moira MacTaggar, her telepathic abilities are restored for the time being to aid in the search for Wolverine, who as Death, has fled into the depths of the tunnels that led from the X-Mansion to New York City, while under the pursuit of Nightcrawler, Archangel, Jubilee, and Shadowcat. (For those who didn't know: Psylocke's telepathic abilities became inaccessible after the X-Men defeated the Shadow King, a long-time enemy of the X-Men. By imprisoning the Shadow King in the psionic plane within Psylocke's own mind, her telepathic ability was lost in order to keep him there. By restoring her telepathic ability to aid in the search, the X-Men were taking a risk in releasing the Shadow King from the psionic plane).
Deep inside the tunnels, the four X-Men (Nightcrawler, Archangel, Jubilee, and Shadowcat) were still giving chase. Psylocke joins the pursuit, mentally, with Archangel, who was thinking to himself about the horrors of returning back to the Morlock tunnel, a place where he had many bad experiences. While in his mind, Psylocke learns of what has happened to Wolverine during her departure: the X-Men's first encounter against Death, then the discovery of an imposter posing as Wolverine, then how Death was revealed to be Wolverine, and how they almost apprehended Death to see if they could bring Wolverine back).
Eventually, the X-Men catches up to Death/Wolverine. Psylocke infiltrates Death's mind with some of Logan's past experiences and memories inside the Morlock tunnel to confuse him. This gives the other X-Men the opportunity to attack. Nightcrawler and Archangel had the first strike, and despite Archangel using excessive force, Logan was still able to slip away. As he continued his flight, Psylocke continued to bombard Logan's mind with past memories of what had happened in the past when he was in the Morlock tunnels. Shadowcat eventually catches up, and she and Logan goes one on one in a fight. Shadowcat, momentarily, gains an upper hand, until Logan manages to injure her. Before he could give the fatal blow to kill Shadowcat, Archangel was able to swoop in and save her. With Nightcrawler's help, they teleported out just as Death hurled at them. As a result, he crashes into a wooden structure.
Leaving Nightcrawler and Shadowcat in a safe place, Archangel heads back to find Logan. Psylocke tries to calm him down, as his memories of how he had been held captive in the past by the Morlocks in these tunnels continued to haunt him and plague his better judgement on how to fight Logan. Psylocke also tells Archangel that she sensed something growing inside of him ... something physically wrong with him, but Archangel waves that thought away, saying that the darkness was just getting to him. He runs into Death, who attacks, but Jubilee saves Warren with one of her plasma light blasts directed at Logan. She tells Logan that he would have to get around her in order to attack the rest of the X-Men. A flood of memory of his past experiences with Jubilee enters Logan's mind, and with that opportunity, Psylocke enters Logan's mind. She tries to talk to Logan (on the psionic plane) to allow them to help him. Logan tells her that it wasn't as simple as that, and that maybe if he could assert some kind of control over Death, he could regain control, but to help him would only be covering up the problem. Psylocke, though, believed there was another alternative, which was to relinquish himself to Apocalpyse's conditioning, and hits Logan with a psionic blade. This gives Logan the opportunity to fight back for the time being, as his true personality was as close to the surface as it could get. With this action, he was able to regain control of himself for the time being, and with that, everything seemed to be okay once again. But, Psylocke suddenly discovers something wrong with Warren, and the X-Men discovers that Warren had been turned into something evil.
