Jack of Queen of Hearts Death!

Jack of Hearts, Queen of Death
Summary

Note: this occurs after UXM 361.

Kurt tries to cajole Marrow into joining the Danger Room work-out; she thinks it's fake and stupid. Ororo tells her it's her duty, but she rudely disagrees, so Logan promises to give her private lessons.

Remy is back but staying in the boathouse. Rogue goes there; the reunion is tense. Logan welcomes him back but warns him not to break her heart again.

A visitor to the Christian Science Mapparium in Boston hears voices and plans murders.

Piotr congratulates Ororo on making her attic bloom again. She says he might pick up again with Kitty.

Rogue flies Remy to the roof of Boston's Fanueil Hall, so they can chat privately. He gives her a white rose; she thinks it's a funeral flower and gets mad. They both say they've suffered: him being stranded in Antarctica, her worrying about him since then. Then Kali blasts through the roof of the Mapparium.

Kitty and Logan bond over knife throwing and bad jokes about Wisdom and Viper.

Kali is looking for sacrifice, and two powerful mutants are a good choice. Battle ensues. Remy says Rogue only abandoned him because she had absorbed his mind, with its self-loathing, and he doesn't hate her. Kali is upset they're not paying attention to her, and they oblige. They drop her into the Christian Science Mother Church, so she fails her test to become a goddess and explodes. Firemen come; Rogue tries to get Remy to say he loves her, but he chokes on the words, and she flies off mad. A green ghost is choking him, claiming him for herself (see Gambit Ann. '99 for the story).
