When in Rome...

Summary

It's 2:30pm in the afternoon, and Logan is seen entering a local diner, Clyde's, with the Sweeper following suit. As the Sweeper takes his seat to watch Logan, he lights up a cigarette. Logan walks over to ask the Sweeper to put out his cigarette. As Logan begins to list off all the harmful things that smoking could do for a "normal" human being, the Sweeper starts moving his hand towards his briefcase and begins to pull out a high-powered gun with a silencer. Logan takes the cigarette from the Sweeper's mouth and puts it out in the cigarette ashtray. With the gun aimed at Logan, the Sweeper was about to pull the trigger when a "snikt" is heard, and the Sweeper collapses onto the table, dead.

Elsewhere, Roman receives a package, and in it was an ashtray with a note scribbled on it by Logan: "All clean". Roman recognizes Logan as someone who has "...proven to be quite the 'Hun'...". He tells Vincente, one of his men, that "Hun" was in reference to a general during ancient Roman era, who was one of the greatest warrior of his time. He was so good, he turned against the Roman empire and was about to take over the Roman Empire until the Roman empire decided to pay him an "annual fee" to go away. He tells Vincente to bring Logan to him.

Outside Clyde's, Logan walks out under the watchful eyes of two would-be assailants. One of the assailant was on a cell phone, receiving orders from a mystery "watcher" in another car. The three watches as Logan stops and begins to sniff the air. The mystery "watcher" frantically tells the two assailants to move up the time table and to take down Logan now before his identity is revealed. The two assailants launches a hail of gunshots into Logan's back. One of the assailants stops firing, and stares wide-eyed in Logan's direction.

At the Pazzo house, Freddo was speaking with Tony about whether Tony had found her. In front of him was a copy of the latest "Daily Bugle" newspaper, whose headline news was the question of who the star witness in the Freddo Pazzo case was and where she was located. Tony's response to Freddo was that he had found her, and that he didn't have any problems getting to her.

Back to the scene where Logan was being attacked. Logan flew at the two assailants, with claws extended. He slashes one into the air. The other tries to flee, but Logan caught up to him as he was running towards the mystery watcher's car. Inside the car, Johnny frantically grabs for his gun and fires six shots into Logan's face. Logan, unphased, cuts open Johnny's car, and with Johnny in his hands, asks Johnny why he didn't have the guts to move against his boss but had no problem moving against Logan. Johnny tells Logan do himself a favor and just kill him, "Take this old, useless gangster out of this miserable existence once and for all!" Behind the two, a van pulls up, and the back door slides open. Vincente leans out, with four armed men besides him, asking the two to get in for Roman wanted to speak with them.

At Roman's home, Logan walks in, expecting Roman to surrender. Logan takes a seat at Roman's desk with Roman across from him. Roman makes Logan an offer on a piece of paper for them to come to an "understanding". (Basically, Roman was trying to buy Logan off). Logan crumples the paper in refusal of the offer. Roman reaches over to a secret button, and a trap door opens into the lion's pit, located right below Logan's seat. Logan manages to grab a hold of the floor and pull himself out. With claws extended, he threatens to kill Roman. From behind, Roman's men bursts in and tosses Johnny into the lion's pit. As the lions advance towards Johnny, Logan disposes of Roman's three men and turns his attention towards Roman, despite Johnny's pleas for help. Finally giving in to his pleas for help, Logan jumps down to deal with the three hungry lions. Staring the three lions in their eyes, Logan comes to a psychological understanding with the three lions, who sees Logan as more of a threat. Roman, curious about the lack of screaming from the pit, walks over to take a look. What he sees surprises him: Logan's hands resting on three tamed lions. Roman wonders out loud how Logan was able to prevent the lions from tearing him apart since the lions were starving. Logan reaches up, grabs Roman's leg, and pulls him into the lion's pit. Logan and Johnny pull themselves out of the pit.

The two stand in silence, staring at each other. Johnny breaks the silence by telling Logan thanks. Using Johnny's cell phone, he calls up Freddo, telling him that he's finished his end of the deal and he's now free of his obligations to Freddo. Freddo tells Logan that he's not done until he (Freddo) says he's done, and he wanted Logan to take care of the "star witness" in the case against him in court. Logan asks why Freddo would expect him to follow that order. Freddo tells Logan that he had found Logan's price: he had captured Logan's bartender friend and his daughter, and was holding them captive.
