Summary

  The President of the United States lands at the Pentagon amidst a sea of chaos. Updated on the Transformers' battle in San Francisco, he begins giving orders to his subordinates when a radio transmission cuts in -- someone has accelerated the pre-launch procedures for a nuclear missile at one of the Pentagon's Pacific Island launch sites. Despite a panicked denial, the missile is launched.

  Up in Canada's Northwest Territories, the Canadian military has nervously ordered Wheeljack and the Autobots to stand down. Wheeljack tries to explain that they're out to stop Megatron's techno-virus, but the military panicks and opens fire. The weakened Autobots are scattered about, but a stray shot hits the virus and sends it cascading on the humans.

  In San Francisco, Megatron recaps his argument of human inferiority and awaits Optimus Prime's response. Staggering, Prime rebuffs Megatron by arguing that humans can be selfless and noble and heroic -- a feat made more commendable because they aren't programmed to guide them into such behavior. Megatron angrily prepares to kill Prime, but is dstracted when several firefighters drive their trucks into the Decepticons. Prime quickly frees the captured Autobots, who begin a renewed counterattack.

  Back at the Pentagon, Geneeral Hallo is tracking the missile flying towards San Francisco when Spike Witwicky bursts into the room, waving the folder with the details of Project Lazarus. Refusing to surrender quietly, Hallo pulls out a gun and orders Spike to watch the final strike with him.

  The Autobots in Canada are trying to save the humans from the runaway virus, but the situation is deteriorating fast -- the humans don't trust them, they've already taken a lot of damage, and the virus is running rampant. Jazz and Red Alert argue for a retreat so they can evacuate the nearby towns, but Wheeljack spots a communications tower in the distance and gets an idea...

  As Spike watches the missile being tracked on its way to San Francisco, Hallo defends his actions as being for the good of the country -- to ensure the United States' undisputed might, so no other nation could ever threaten it. His rant is stopped when a squad of military agents burst into the room and order him to surrender. Hallo turns to fire on them, and is immediately gunned down as a result.

  Fighting with renewed vigor, the Autobots in San Francisco are defeating the Decepticons, with Optimus Prime brutally pummelling Megatron. His victory is interrupted when Soundwave announces an incoming nuclear missile, and Megatron mockingly laughs. In the blink of an eye, the Aerialbots assemble to form Superion, then fly off to intercept the missile -- just as Wheeljack (in Canada) jury-rigs himself to the communications tower for a desperate blast at the virus.

  With a scream of agony, Wheeljack uses the last of his strength to power the satellite dish and blast the virus -- while Superion intercepts the nuclear missile head-on over the ocean, and is obliterated as a result. The ensuing shockwave sends a tidal wave that rushes over the ruins of San Francisco.

  Several hours later, reinforcements from the Canadian military arrive in the Northwest Territories, and find the techno-virus has been completely destroyed from the countryside. Down in San Francisco, the awakening Optimus Prime is greeted by Spike, who tells him that the Decepticons escaped with the tide and that millions were saved by the Autobots. Prime is too distraught to listen, as the other Autobots dig Grimlock out from underneath a pile of rubble. Prime offers to forgive Grimlock's betrayal and readmit him to the ranks, but Grimlock refuses -- leaving Optimus to ponder the changing dynamics between the Autobots and the humans, while Jazz cradles Wheeljack's corpse...
