Summary

  Clarice falls through a portal and lands on sand. A blue woman introduces herself as Nightcrawler's daughter T.J. (cf. X-Men: Millennial Visions, Aug-2000, pp. 34-35). Others appear one by one, familiar but not quite. A butler who turns out to be a manifestation of time itself says they are from alternate realities.

  T.J. was an X-Man with her father. John was enhanced by Apocalypse but freed himself. Magnus has his father Magneto's power but his mother Rogue's curse: anyone he touches turns to steel. Kevin was a New Mutant, X-Man, and Avenger. Calvin led the X-Men. Clarice was from the Age of Apocalypse, freed by Sabretooth.

  Occasionally there are hiccups in the multiverse, and each of them has had their history changed: Magnus at the age of 13 turned his mother to steel and Magneto reverted to evil; Calvin as an Evil Mutant killed 47 bystanders, so he's on death row; Kevin was injured and is a "milkshake" in Beast's lab; T.J.'s father was killed by his mother Mystique; John still serves Apocalypse; Clarice was never born. They have to fix time to get their lives back (except Clarice, whose universe is gone). The Tallus, a gem on an armband, will guide them as best it can, and with Clarice's power will transport them through the universes.

  The team drops into the desert, this time 33 miles from Phoenix. This earth has jailed and killed all its super-beings. The Tallus says to find their greatest teacher, so they zero in on Xavier. T.J. and Calvin have some telepathy, which Magnus electrically amplifies. Xavier's in the Hulkbuster base in Nevada (cf. Onslaught: Epilogue), which they easily bust into. Melee ensues, and Clarice and Magnus free Xavier. He recovers, reads their minds, and psi-blasts them all. He has been captive for years and plans to exterminate humanity.
