Summary

In a flashback to the Great War on Cybertron, Megatron remembers a warning Starscream had given him -- that Scoronok's penchance for flashy, front-line offensives could appeal to the other Decepticons more than Megatron's cautious leadership.

Now, in the Yukon wilderness, Megatron faces Scorponok once more. Despite Scorponok's taunts, Megatron is not interested in fighting him just yet, and teleports away. Scorponok then tries to contact Alpha-Quintesson to confirm the destruction of the shield tower, but finds his radio jammed... as Megatron attacks! The battle between the two Decepticon leaders quickly grows fierce, while Ironhide tries to think of a way to save himself and his comrades.

Scorponok fights aggressively, forcing Megatron to teleport repeatedly and weaken himself in the process. Sure enough, soon Megatron starts to waver, and Scorponok presses his advantage, burying Megatron underneath an avalanche! His victory complete, Scorponok gloats at how he easily taunted Megatron into overreaching himself...

...and is vivisected from behind by Megatron! Scorponok's corpse explodes, and Megatron explains he always leaves something in reserve. Megatron then turns to Ironhide, who's raised a protective shield, and orders him to bear witness to Megatron's return.

Later, in a conference with the High Council, Jetfire relays the recent turn of events, and notes Optimus Prime's continued absence. Councilor Avalon excuses himself to take a private call, then secretly confers with Alpha-Quintesson on Prime's whereabouts. Alpha-Quintesson dismisses the matter, confident that Unicron's internal defenses have already destroyed the Autobot leader.

Meanwhile, from a remote corner of Unicron's innards, a battle-scarred Optimus Prime steps forward, heavily armed and ready to strike...
