A Northern Exposure

Summary

Inside the X-Men's mansion, down in the medical lab, Beast, Guardian, Vindicator, and Professor X are doing a bio-comparison of Logan and Sabretooth. They noted how their blood sugar level was close, how Sabretooth's potentially-fatal injury that Wolverine had inflicted on him in Wolverine #90 had healed with minimal scarring, and so forth. In the meantime, Logan kept silently telling Sabretooth how his "act" of him not remembering his past and being so innocent now was so fake.

After the medical examination, Meltdown (a member of X-Force who was staying at the X-Maion at this time) takes Sabretooth away while Logan is sent to the Danger Room for some experiements. After donning the gear, they put Logan through a similation in Arctic, which brings back one of Logan's memory of when Heather and James Hudson had first discovered him. The sequence was terminated when Logan popped out his claws. Needing some air, Logan heads outside to the objection of the X-Men who were testing him. Because he still had his sensors on, the X-men were able to monitor him.

Outside, on a cliff overlooking a blind curve, Logan notices a guy with his girlfriend on a Harley. Coming fast from the other direction was the husband from the last issue, and he was drunk. To protect the motorcyclist, Logan tries to stop the car. Instead, the guy runs Logan over. The X-Men monitors excrutiating pain by Logan, but noticed how his healing factor was working at an accelerated pace now. The drunk driver's car slams into the hillside. Logan looked to be killing the man, but he managed to allow the man inside him to conquer the beast temporarily, and all he did was scare the man away. The motorcyclist past without stopping since the man recognized Logan as the same guy who had beat him in a game of billiards from Wolverine #65. Logan leaves, without knowing that behind him, Expediter was watching with her associate.
