Summary
In Kentucky, the Externals tell their tales:
Saul first met Apocalypse in 12th century Mongolia. He showed him a crashed alien spacecraft and was stabbed through the chest for his efforts. Lesson: big as you are, there's always someone bigger.
Absalom was an outlaw in the Old West, about to be hanged as a murderer when his mutant power first manifested (bony spikes). He was shot as a mutant and then rose again, an External.
Gideon was on Columbus's voyage, died of scurvy, and rose again to grab opportunity in the New World.
The Legacy Virus has killed Nicodemus and Burke, and Absalom is infected. Burke had predicted Sam would save them, but no one knows how. Sam berates them all for wasting their long lives. Absalom burst with thorns, and is near death. Sam promises to help them if he can, if they improve themselves. Sam and Boomer say they love each other.
In Arizona, Cable and Domino plan to relocate the team. In the Bronx, a dead body is found and is traced to the Callasantos sisters (Feral and Thornn).
