New Blood
Summary
Note: the story begins in Generation X 50.
Nate confronts Emma about the Dark Beast; she says he was just an acquaintance a long time ago. He's angry that she invaded his mind; she attacks him with superior psi-powers, then realizes his power. Gaia interrupts, getting them to focus on the abducted Gen X kids (Generation X 50).
Emma grimly remembers the loss of the Hellions (Uncanny X-Men 281) and psi-traces her new team to Dark Beast's impenetrable underground lair. She gets Gaia to tear down the wall, and they find Gen X plugged into high-tech medical testing equipment. Dark Beast's thugs attack them; Nate bends light around himself to become invisible, and fights them while Emma frees Gen X, who join in.
Nate realizes Wynter is animated by Dark Beast; Emma knew it all along and finds her way to his headquarters and is ready to kill him when Nate and Gaia interrupt. They found hatched Brood eggs, which Dark Beast had brought to earth. Emma, furious, breaks through his psi-screens, but it turns out he's not really there but just a sophisticated hologram. The base starts to self-destruct, and Nate and Gen X get out.
Back at the Academy, they realize Sean is missing (Generation X 50). Emma asks Nate's forgiveness for her involvement with Dark Beast, and mentally gives him a list of his bases. Maddie pops in and takes Nate back to Ireland. Gauntlet readies to attack him again.
