Summary
Roberts reports from Africa: Niganda has been in anarchy since the overthrow of the dictator M'Butu. He's suddenly attacked and disappears. His camera crew rewinds the tape and sees he was swallowed by a many-toothed monster.
Xavier's: Alex interrupts Emma in Cerebra; she noticed irregular activity in Africa, and he brings her to the conference room to look at the video of a mutant crocodile eating Roberts. Emma is dismayed to see there's a new kind of non-human mutant and she prepares the team to investigate. Ororo enters and insists on coming; Emma decides to stay behind in Cerebra and coordinate.
Alex hopes the political situation in Niganda isn't as bad as the reports; meanwhile, a general there kills a doctor for aiding his enemies, pushing him into a pit to be fed to a mutant lion. Alex asks Ororo if growing up in Africa was rough; she says not for her, since she was considered a goddess; she remembers being young and restless and traveling across the continent; she wonders why she's not happy to return.
Emma detects no further activity; she tried but failed to contact the Black Panther since his kingdom Wakanda is nearby. Logan tracks the reporter's scent to a cave under a tree; Ororo is grabbed behind him and disappears.
She's been taken underwater by the croc; the team runs to the water's edge to help her, but they see she has it under control. Lightning strikes, and many mutant crocs float to the surface. Rogue, Bobby, Lorna and Alex blast them; Bobby is dismayed to see Lorna teaming with Alex instead of him. Alex wants the team to stay together and track down the ones that got away, but Ororo insists on going alone to talk to the locals, and Logan walks off on his own.
Ororo finds the general holding a woman and child over the pit to get information; she whips the hostages away with wind, and when the general shoots at her, Logan leaps on him, slashing him and knocking him into the pit. Ororo talks to the locals; the general screams as the lion presumably eats him.
The rest of the team finds the reporter's remains, stashed away for the crocs to eat later. Emma has done some research (evidently on Daily Kos) and has decided the real problems in Niganda are the fault of Western banks and corporations who bankroll dictators. Ororo wonders why they're bothering with crocs when so much of the continent is suffering; Logan says Africa's too big to fix, even for her.
The team investigates ‘the Factory,' where locals say people have been disappearing. Remy finds cages of mutated creatures; Bobby jokes it must be a monster factory, and Ororo agrees. Logan hears something and follows a scent; Alex blasts down a door, and they find the Panther in the office at the computer.
