Summary
Back on the rooftop, Wolverine, Lady Deathstrike, and Sabretooth are battling it out against the Hunter in Darkness who had broken out of its cage after it had crashed into the water tower. Wolverine had asked for a truce so that they can stop the Hunter in Darkness first, but Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth were still bent on killing Logan. The Hunter in Darkness though recognized how Logan was fighting, as well as his scent (for Logan, as you remember, had saved him long time ago when its foot had been caught in a hunter's trap). It joins in the battle on Wolverine's side.
Meanwhile, Jubilee was climbing the stairs up the building to go find Logan. She encounters Logan, who was taking a breather for he was pretty beat up, but not defeaten, yet. Jubilee checks out the battle, and sees how the Hunter in Darkness was doing quite a job on Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth. After letting his body heal for a sec, Wolverine rejoins the battle.
Meanwhile, back in the cellar of the city, Albert was still rebuilding Elsie Dee, and he had showed Elsie Dee how he had constructed a particle accelerator which could help him build a thing that can poswer Elsie Dee's internal reactor.
Back to the fight, as they were fighting, next thing they knew, Sabretooth was hit by a bullet, and was temporarily taken out of action. The female shooter lets out a curse, still bent on shooting the right person in the darkness. She next shoots Lady Deathstrike, sending her down to the streets below. Jubilee knocks out the shooter's night vision by using her plasma bursts. But in doing so, it scares the Hunter in Darkness away. The shooter though was still bent on killing them. As she kept shooting, she referred to how her father had shot something once in the forest called the Hunter in Darkness, and how he had felt guilty in doing so because he saw in the eyes of it pity, and how it ate away at his soul. Logan is hit by one of the bullets, but realizes that she was Emmy Doolin, daughter to Sgt. Doolin (ref: Wolverine #34). Pretty soon, Logan and Sabretooth were both beginning to hallucinate because the bullets were mercury-tipped, causing him and Sabretooth to see Emmy as a Wrangler, which was a security personnel from the Weapon X project.
She continues her story, telling about how her father had continuously digressed because he had to find the Hunter again, and had devoted most of the rest of his life looking for it. Then one day, he was discovered dead, discovering him ripped apart by claws, and that The Hunter in Darkness must've been responsible for it. As Logan and Sabretooth were still hallucinating, she was just about to shoot Sabretooth in the head until Jubilee got involved and knocked her shot off target. But Doolin knocks her down, and right before she brings her rifle crashing into the back of Jubilee's head, Logan stops her by slicing her gun. Jubilee then delivers quite a punch on her, knocking her out. Sabretooth escaped, Lady Deathstrike was paid a visit by Parvenue, and down in the cellar where Albert was working on Elsie Dee, Masque hears the sound of the white alligators that resided in the cellar being killed. We see that the thing that was doing it was the Hunter in Darkness.
