I was asked what I do for comic books, that I can not purchase. There is an app formarly named (Comixology) now rolled into Amazon Kindle app, where you can purchase online version of comic books. I have also found a another app/website GlobalComix that looks legit as well, but I haven't dug much deeper. I have about 1 TB of Comics I have downloaded from News Groups mostly before I stopped activily collecting. The file sizes usually ran about 9 to 15 megabytes per comic book. The images stored were good enough to read but not really supper high quality. But when I got back into the mix this year, I am seeing that the ripping groups have changed and have gone for higher quality scans, so they files now are 45 to 100 megs in size per comic book depending on resolution and the number of pages etc. It looks like they have mostly moved off the News Groups and on to selected websites, where you can download the comics from. My understanding is most of what I am seeing now days are automated rips from different publishers of comic books. These are no longer hand scanned comic books, but convertions from another format into the CBZ/CBR formats. CBR/CBZ are a form of Rar/Zip files that all images for a comic are are compressed into a rar/zip to make it easier to transfer. I currently use cdisplayex to read these files. I have not found a good catalog tool yet. I do have Archive ability built into the site for registered users. But I am not looking at exposing it to the general public, too much risk for too little reward for me.
