Summary

Graydon Creed has been assassinated (X-Factor 130), and fear of mutants is spreading.

Betsy is locked in Warren's Soho loft, battling Undercloaks. Warren breaks in through the skylight to find her sitting peacefully. Gomurr shows up, saying Betsy's healing was not free (see Psylocke & Archangel: Crimson Dawn).

Ororo encases Jamil in a snowdrift; Candra attacks her; then Juggernaut busts out of the snowdrift. Ororo theorizes that Jamil's power, enhanced by Candra's heart, allows him to become other villains; Candra keeps attacking her instead of trying to get the gem back. Ororo throws her into the temple, then turns to find Jamil as Cable. He pulls her close, then uses the gem to zap Candra. Ororo uses lightning and fog to get away. She realizes Jamil has help, and takes Karima outside to have a chat.

Logan, Jean, and Scott are on their way to help, telepathically cloaked. For a moment, Jean sees the city deserted.

Ororo explains that Jamil never existed; Karima can make dreams come true and created him as a companion for her, then made him a powerful mutant for Candra to mentor. Ororo tosses her the gem, but Logan puts a claw through it. Candra disappears. Ororo takes Karima home.

Control of Hong Kong is about to be transferred from London to Beijing. Shaw toasts his son, who thought he killed him (X-Factor 67). He has been working in the shadows since then (June 1991), preparing the Hellfire Club.
