Summary
Note: this occurs after UXM 375.
The X-Men have a Skrull with a big hole in his chest and don't know why the Skrulls would be attacking them or where the real Logan is.
The Skrulls test another fake Wolverine in combat. Having received a copy of his psyche from their ally, they have made a good impostor: this one even has a healing factor. The lead Skrull blasts it in the head, and the healing factor doesn't work well enough. They have been breeding Warskrulls (iss. 276-277), which can duplicate abilities as well as shape. One of them, Fiz, starts to think that Xavier isn't their enemy, since he is said to have opposed Galactus (iss. 90).
Ororo forces Xavier to look beyond Logan to the whole problem. Kurt gets Scott and Jean to check on Lorna. The Skrulls have been observing her, attempting to take a device from her. They figure out a way: a false Havok. She lets him in, not reading his magnetic signature at first, and he immediately puts an inhibitor collar on her. He is about to take the device and wipe her memory, but decides to keep her, since she is one of the Twelve and a good bargaining chip with the Skrulls' ally.
He triumphantly carries her back to base, but then finds she is really Scott, with an image inducer, and he starts blasting as the rest of the X-Men come to his aid. Melee ensues, but the Skrulls are not allowed to harm the Twelve.
A portal opens, and Death walks through. Marrow notices him and gets a mouthful of knuckles. Before the X-Men can attack him, the bomb he set goes off, destroying the base. Jean and Ororo keep the flames back. Piotr gets a good whack at Death, shattering his mask. It is Logan, as predicted by Destiny (iss. 94), and he quickly teleports away.
