The End of the World as we know it

Summary

Note: this occurs after UXM 377 and is part of the Apocalypse: The Twelve storyline.

The X-Men whom Apocalypse doesn't need fight for their lives against Skrulls and Monolith's cultists.

Apocalypse says he was the first mutant and intends to be the last. He is using the Twelve to power technology taken from the Celestials and plans to take over X-Man's body.

Suddenly, the Celestial machine reverse direction, unbalanced. Apocalypse didn't know Magneto's powers were weakened, and now he has to rush his plans. Xavier asks the Monolith to resist, but he just thrashes about mindlessly, and Sunfire, Ororo, and Bobby try to contain him, but he just processes their energies. Xavier leads the others to find Apocalypse.

Fiz convinces the mutant Skrulls to rebel; they free the X-Men to join their teammates.

The Horsemen show up; Mikhail, still able to jump dimensions, ports away with them, allowing Xavier and the Summerses to get to Apocalypse.

Magneto, powerless on his own, grabs the magnetic field through Lorna and blasts the Monolith, to no effect. Bishop realizes he's the solution; he can absorb energy, too, so he does. The Monolith collapses, and chronal energy builds to the critical point, taking Bishop away (to his own series).

Apocalypse takes down Cable, then telepathically grabs Scott's energy. But Jean can then into get in, through her link to Scott, and blasts him, destroying his mask and revealing an ancient body. He counterblasts Jean, then continues taking over X-Man's body. Scott's energy is depleted, but he realizes Apocalypse is vulnerable. He tells Jean he loves her, then pushes X-Man aside. Jean hears his final thoughts, laughter, as Apocalypse merges with him: his body is genetically similar enough to X-Man's.
