E is for Extinction
Summary
Trask: "When I got out of my bed this morning I didn't expect to exterminate fifteen million people." But Nova wants all mutants dead, and the X-Wing makes an easy target. Scott: "Relax. I've survived more jet aircraft crashes than any other mutant." He lands near the Master Mold and self destructs the craft before the Sentinels can co-opt it. He has Logan keep Steve safe while he blasts; he gets knocked down, so Logan takes a turn.
Hank tries to dictate an e-mail to Trish but can't get it right. Jean nurses Xavier, who says he carries a gun to blow out his own brains, in case someone tries to hijack him (cf. Broodqueen, Onslaught). Hank alerts them that the X-Wing is out of contact, so Xavier goes to Cerebra.
Nova had Trask launch 4 Sentinels at the largest mutant population; Trask hesitates morally but is thrilled by the power. She has copied his DNA and runs her hand all through his body to dispose of him. She injects herself and voice-commands a Sentinel to incinerate Steve. Logan wakes, cuts his restraints, and takes her captive. Scott puts Steve out of his misery. He can't open his eyes because Nova removed his ruby quartz contact lenses, but he threatens to kill her. She just laughs.
Emma is on Genosha, teaching children telepathy. One has a premonition that everyone is going to die. Giant Sentinels crash into the island and begin the extermination of 16,521,063 souls. Xavier in Cerebra senses it, but too late.
