Summary
Warren conducts business over his cell phone, till Bobby grabs it and tosses it into the fountain, saying you can't "phone it in." Scott and he ask why Warren doesn't have his casts on, and he replies he's healed already. Bobby suggests he's finally developed a useful mutation; Warren orders Bobby to have Anne check his own wound (iss. 412), but Bobby just gets testy with him.
Josette, a beautiful blue mutant from Genosha, introduces herself to Warren. She has empathic abilities and senses his sorrow over Betsy (X-treme X-Men 2); she has large breasts and suggests she could ease his pain. He flees, though she says she was just offering sex and not love.
Bobby, angry, goes to the infirmary; Anne makes fun of his code name and insists he remove his shirt. He goes to a private area, not wanting Jean-Paul to see; Annie is surprised to see that Jean-Paul actually is aroused by "Frost-Boy" but promises to keep it secret.
Kurt has had nightmares, so he goes to St Patricks to pray to a crucifix. He still desires women; he blames Christ for allowing or perhaps encouraging holy war; he doubts the value of sitting beside Jesus in heaven, separated from unfaithful loved ones. Next they meet, he expects answers.
Bobby shows Annie his chest, which is turning to ice, and he can't stop it. He thinks it may be a secondary mutation, and he asks Annie to keep it secret. Bobby asks Jean-Paul when he's going to get off his lazy butt, and matchmaker Annie gets them to go to the Dining Commons together. They see Josette in the hall; Jean-Paul is catty but Bobby drools and goes for a walk with her. They sit in a gazebo in the moonlight, and Bobby says he's never fallen in love so fast, but then her husband Robert attacks. Josette says Bobby didn't know, but Robert is enraged. He is made of mud and tries to suffocate Bobby, but Jean-Paul arrives in a new costume and whooshes away with Bobby and part of Robert's arm. Robert attacks again, and when Jean-Paul strikes him his hand just goes into the mud. Robert flings him away, but Jean-Paul flies back and splits him down the middle.
Annie has Bobby in the infirmary, checking for concussion. Robert is put into a containment chamber. Annie asks Jean-Paul how things went; he says Bobby's straight. She suggests he may not know yet, but Jean-Paul says everyone knows, and some loves aren't meant to be. Annie looks at Alex in the next bed and agrees.
Note: Kurt's tirade against Jesus is reminiscent of a recent episode of The West Wing (NBC-TV), where the president yelled at God in the National Cathedral.
