Summary

The X-Men visit Sean in his futuristic HQ near Paris. Warren is to speak at the G8 summit, which is discussing mutants, and they're worried about this new, militaristic X-Corps. Sean says they all have the same goals, and his group will police mutants: order, by any means necessary.

An alert sounds: two mutants fighting in Berlin. Sean sends his "Bastard Squad," and the X-Men watch nervously. Sean has changed.

X-Corps arrives. Avalanche knocks the local resistance away; Surge zaps both mutants but gets zapped himself; Avalanche calls in the artillery, and helicopters drop Blob in. Situation "quelled."

Sean explains his resources: secret Swiss bank accounts from his Interpol days, a hidden Factor 3 account, venture capital, and an abandoned AIM base. He heads for Berlin and invites the X-Men along. They are appalled he has criminals on his team (evidently thieves and prostitutes are okay), but they are glad to see Sean has control.

Sean interrogates the captive locals, who say they're a cell of ARM: anti-mutant vigilantes. Sean takes the captives away, and the X-Men decide to investigate further.

Leyu briefs Sean on the mutants: Fever Pitch, a mercenary who was kidnapping mutants, and Abyss, a Genoshan. She thinks they're too unstable to control.

Warren speaks to the G8 in Rome. He says Xavier's dream is coexistence, and though the X-Corps may cause anxiety, mutants are allies to humanity, not replacements.

Sean has Mastermind in a tank and wants to test her limits.

Note: references are made to Sean's history as a criminal (iss. 28) and in Interpol (iss. 102), his relationship with Moira (iss. 129) and her death (X-Men II:108), Factor 3 (iss. 32-35), Sunpyre (iss. 392-394), Avalanche and Blob (iss. 199, X-Factor 8), Multiple Man (X-Factor 71-100), Fever Pitch (Generation X 50), Abyss (Amazing X-Men 4), and Lady Mastermind (Wolverine/Gambit: Victims LS). So I guess we're no longer worried about confusing new readers.
