Summary

  Wolverine pays a visit to Canada to an arctic research station (financed by the Canadian government) where Heather and James Hudson (aka Vindicator and Guardian) were by hitching a ride with an old friend of his, Harry Tabeshaw. Arriving there, Logan learns of how the facility has been having trouble with a being that had claws that could leave mark on metal. Heather tells him how the research team there had uncovered a peculiar artifact, but now, all they had left of it was a block of ice with an imprint of the creature that once was in it. Doing a 3-D scan on it, the computer generated image reveals a creature that Logan was very familiar of: the Hunter in Darkness. Heather tells Logan how the U-V rays from the ozone layer had released the creature from its cryogenic hibernation and had disappeared shortly afterwards.

  Later on, in privacy, Logan tells James Hudson how he had lost his adamantium and his healing powers, and, saying stuff that only a man who thinks he's dying would say, he asks James to be executor of his estate, and James agrees to it, though a bit hesistantly because he can tell that Logan speaks as if he's not going to have a lot of time left.

  Elsewhere in Canada, Albert and Elsie Dee are still unconvinced that Bloodscream is a mutant. Just then, a bunch of indian artifact poachers surround them. After a brief argument, a fight breaks out between Elsie Dee, Albert, and Bloodscream against the poachers. The poachers are easily disposed of by the three. While taking the poachers to the Canadian mounties, Elsee Dee agrees to help Bloodscream after believing his story that Logan had some kind of grave disease that was slowly killing him, so he and Albert join up with Bloodscream to search for Wolverine.

  Back at the research facility, as Simpson was heading out to the dark to collect seismic probes, while opening the door, she is attacked by some creature that moved quick. Tabeshaw realizes that the Hunter in Darkness was now loose within their compound, and Wolverine, DeLong (armed with a high-powered rifle), Vindicator, and Guardian gives chase after the creature. Guardian and Vindicator battles with the Hunter in Darkness. Delong was planning to open fire, but Logan stops him in fear that he'd hit Heather or James. Logan unleashes his claws and takes on the Hunter in Darkness to give Vindicator and Guardian a chance to catch their breath. As the fight continues, Sverdrup enters in a freight-loader suit to fight the Hunter in Darkness. Unfortunately, he is beheaded by a speedy Hunter in Darkness. Logan manages to get one good slice in at the Hunter in Darkness, injuring it, forcing it to rip open a wall in the facility to escape into the darkness.

  Assessing the injuries, Tabeshaw tells them that Simpson has to get to a doctor since she's been sliced badly. Guardian organizes a search team to hunt for the Hunter in Darkness. Outside, the Hunter in Darkness is howling, and, bad news to the Logan and the rest, the Hunter in Darkness was getting answers, which meant there were more like the Hunter in Darkness out in the wilderness.
