Summary

  Gambit is brought by Vanisher to sees Storm; he starts to explain he's from another universe, but she interrupts him with a kiss. She wasn't able to say goodbye to her Gambit, and that helped. Storm gives her condolences on the deaths of the X-Men; Kitty starts to argue with her, but she says it was futile to fight the Sentinels. She says they have little time before Magneto's asteroid hits and makes the world a lifeless husk. They try to make plans to survive and are interrupted by Hyperion. He says he'll destroy the asteroid so he can rule the world. He's brought Ms. Marvel, Iceman, and also Rogue, who'll absorb part of his power so she can help him. He orders the others to Asteroid M for safety: if the mutants to die, he'll be force to another Earth. Afterwards they can help him organize governments. Storm doesn't want to leave her people, but Gambit convinces her, not wanting to see her die again. Vanisher teleports them away, and Rogue touches Hyperion; she's thrilled with the power.

  Quicksilver is angry to learn his father's dead, but Iceman says they all knew it was the only way, and he admits it was crazy to destroy the planet even with the Sentinels gone.

  Rogue and Hyperion blasts chunks of the meteor, as smaller pieces rain down on Earth. Rogue runs out of power and reaches for a recharge, but Hyperion decides it's hopeless and flies off, letting her burn to death. The meteor hits, and the mutants on Asteroid M see the planet-scale explosion. Kitty phases away with Colossus, realizing Hyperion will soon be there to kill them all and complete his mission. She hopes the Savage Land or the Morlock Tunnels somehow survived.

  The airlock opens and Hyperion enters; Colossus tries to defend Kitty, but he eye-blasts them both into space. The others see them floating outside and realize it's kill-or-be-killed. Hyperion busts into the room, tosses Forge into space, and orders Weapon X to attack. Iceman seals over the hole in the wall while Quicksilver quick-punches Hyperion, but he just snaps his neck. Vanisher is about to teleport away with Storm, when he feels pain: Spider impaled him through the heart. Gambit tosses a card at him, hurting his shoulder, and teleports away with Vanisher and Storm.

  Banner and Firestar show up: Colossus and Vision must have finally expired. The new Weapon X-er's warn Hyperion the Timebroker is unhappy with him, and they quickly kill Iceman.

  Vanisher was too weak to go far; Storm tells Gambit to take care of his Storm when he gets home, and she has him stab her in the heart before Hyperion can kill her. Weapon X is reunited, and Hyperion looks forward to a new world to conquer. They teleport away from the asteroid, now littered with mutant corpses.
