The Hunt for Xavier

Summary

  A meteor falls into the bay near the Ghirardelli chocolate factory in San Francisco. Cerebrite Beta rises and shoots down a latent mutant.

  Xavier is holed up in an abandoned incinerator on Alcatraz with Toad, who is insane.

  Logan, Kitty, Kurt, and Marrow have flown the Aurora to San Francisco, but Xavier is no longer at those coordinates, so Logan tracks him. Kitty trades a homeless person some cash for clothes to cover their uniforms, and they walk through Berkeley. They find scars of battle caused by the false X-Men (iss. 360), and Xavier's busted wheelchair. Kurt finds $20 in his pocket and buys a Star of David for Kitty.

  Cerebro breaks into "Area 52", near Devil's Canyon, where the government now keeps its secrets. It steals Bastion's nano-technology.

  Logan goes to China Town to get help from Black Crane. He sends them to Alcatraz and warns them about Toad and another hidden threat. Kurt ports them all to the Rock, and the Brotherhood immediately attack. They are better fighters than expected, and Kitty realizes they were trained by Xavier, who shows himself and says they are all on the same side, now. The Brotherhood broke him out of the Hulkbuster base (cf. X-Men II:73) but found he has lost his powers since Onslaught and has been hiding from Cerebro. Just then, Cerebrite Beta bursts in.
