Summary
Note: this is prelude to the Magneto war and occurs after X-Men II:85.
The Acolytes are in the news, making terrorist strikes against genetics labs. The X-Men assume Joseph has become Magneto and follow the Acolytes' craft north.
Magneto plans his next attack, while Sabra has taken Joseph to Israel for tests (X-Men II:73), which show he is a clone.
The Acolytes land at a remote chemical plant in northern Canada, and the X-Men disembark to stop them. They battle; the Acolytes maneuver them into a large holding tank, dump a fire retardant on them, and leave. But they fly off slowly enough so the X-Men can catch up, which raises Xavier's suspicions.
Magneto sends Ferris to the UN while he powers a device at the north magnetic pole. A weather station registers the E-M activity and realizes who it is, just as the power goes out.
A woman finds Joseph in Israel, berates him for not doing his job, attacks him, and calls herself his mother.
The Aurora crashes in the snow while Ferris announces world unity, saying Magneto's E-M pulse will knock out all electronic devices worldwide.
Note: continued in X-Men II:86
