Summary

Note: this is part 2 of the Magneto War and occurs after X-Men II:86.

The nuclear blast hits the Acolytes' craft, but its gravimetric shields hold. The unshielded X-Men are below, and Scanner unexpectedly decides to attack them.

Magneto continues to power his E-M field, but he senses Joseph moving through it, under Astra's vicious goading. To her he is only a tool to kill Magneto.

The X-Men stop playing dead. Xavier is manipulating the Acolytes into attacking, just as he made them shield the X-Men from the nuclear blast.

Vindaloo shoots jets of napalm; Kitty phases Xavier out of danger. Unuscione hits Ororo with her exoskeleton, Logan prevents Marrow from attacking and ending the battle too soon, then gets hit by Cargill.

The UN debates options: conventional weapons and even the Avengers and SHIELD are useless. A general suggests saturating the area with nukes, but Huxley has a non-world-ending solution.

Astra confronts Magneto. ("Let's recap… You show them why it's in their best interest to let you rule them. Surprise - the cattle disagree and fight back! Oh, look, you get offended and all righteous! You'll show them - you'll take away their electric razors!") He says he let Joseph impersonate him to cover his real plan. Astra blasts the filters in his machinery, and he howls in pain as his body becomes a lightning rod.

Piotr turns metallic, attracts electricity, and knocks out most of the Acolytes. Kitty phases in, scrambles Kath's cybernetics, and takes the ship, stranding the Acolytes.

Magneto says Astra's attack has endangered the whole world and breaks through her Kree shields. He is forced to absorb more energy than he can handle and plans to aim it at her. Joseph resists him, to protect his creator and because he believes in Xavier's dream.
