Summary

  Note: this occurs after X-Men II:98.

  Xavier contemplates the loss of Cyclops and the history of the X-teams, while gazing at the Shi'ar empathic crystal that held Jean's essence after her death (iss. 144). Piotr and Kitty see him off into space, where he will train the mutant Skrulls.

  The team plays baseball. Ororo is distracted, worried that worse things are coming, and Logan snikts a ball that was about to bean her.

  Magneto tries to restore order in Genosha. Cortez and Lorna help him hide the fact that his power is weak, but Cortez plots to overthrow him and Lorna has moral qualms about aiding him.

  Mystique's aliases have been blown, so she morphs her way into the National Security Agency to find out who is onto her.

  Jean hopes Scott isn't all dead. X-Man feels guilty that Scott took his place, and Jean tells him it's time to live up to his name.

  Blob, Toad, Post, and Mimic plot a heist.

  Bobby ice-slides to Genosha with Hank, so he can research the Legacy Virus among the mutates.

  In Westchester, a hologram of the High Evolutionary interrupts a picnic. He intends to neutralize all mutants. Logan bares his claws, for no particular reason. The High Evolutionary doesn't listen to reason but activates his energy field, and all over the world mutants lose their powers, even reverting to fully human appearances.

  Magneto realizes the humans will be gunning for him. Mystique is captured. Blob sheds pounds (but not excess skin: yuck!); Mimic and Warren molt, and Toad gets tall and handsome. Bobby and Hank take shelter in a cave, and Hank realizes the High Evolutionary must have had some help.
