Summary
Kurt asks Damask what forces Apocalypse is sending to Avalon, but she doesn't know. She kisses his cheek, verifying his fur is like velvet.
Doug doesn't want Destiny to leave on Mystique's say-so. Wendy goes mad, us-ing her mutant power to fry everyone in her vicinity. Shadow King announces him-self, saying he came in Wade, then tries but failed to take over Switchback. Mys-tique shoots Wendy, but the Shadow King will just jump to another host. He attacks everyone, driving them mad and making them attack each other. Shadow King in Marcus attacks Destiny, so Damask uses her power to psionically skin him, but he gets away. Doug blames X-Calibre; Kurt says Avalon was trying to hide from real-ity, and it just caught up.
Shadow King jumps into Mystique and sifts through her worst memories. She takes Sabretooth's form. Kurt thinks Shadow King jumps hosts through the same adjacent dimension he uses, so he teleports Mystique, Switchback uses her power to shift back in time, and Damask uses her psionic blades to shred the Shadow King. Marcus, still hearing Shadow King's voice, strikes out at Des-tiny. Doug takes the blast and is killed. Destiny, her dream in ruins, agrees to go back with Kurt.
