Summary

  The Watchtower is an anti-mutant research facility, and Wolverine has been itching to return (see Wolverine II:154-155). He tracked someone there and attacks the guards, interrogating one and is directed to sub-level two. He fights past reinforcements and finds his goal: Caliban (last seen Search for Cyclops LS as Apocalypse's horseman Pestilence), who promptly attacks him. Wolverine insists he's there to rescue him, but Caliban is feral. Wolverine has to knock him out.

  Shatterstar appears and chides him for growling while fighting; Wolverine asks what he's doing there, but Shatterstar just wants to fight. Wolverine accommodates him, making him growl, but then Cable appears and punches Wolverine across the room.

  Cable announces that X-Force is there to rescue Caliban; he has Tabitha with him, who gets Caliban to purr. Wolverine asks what Cable's latest agenda is; Cable says he's recruiting to battle the Skornn; he admits to failing to recruit Sam, which Wolverine thinks was good judgment on his part.

  Suddenly Cable is felled by an energy bolt: the Watchtower's Administrator says they're trespassing, but he's willing to talk. He also knows of the Skornn; he was using bloodhounds like Caliban to track them, and he wants the mutants to attack them first, before they start to turn on humans. Tabitha and Shatterstar both attack him, but he is unfazed. He moves to kill Wolverine, who fights back but keeps his claws sheathed; the Administrator sees he realizes they might need to be allies. Wolverine, while being choked, asks Cable for help, but he's teleported away, leaving Deadpool in his stead (a new development: see Cable & Deadpool 6). He and Shatterstar attack, but the Administrator puts one down with each hand. Cable is back, and then suddenly the Administrator is blasted through the chest: Stryfe is back, with a new MLF.
