Summary
The Imperial Guard has caught some Skrulls trying to smuggle proton bombs across the board in the Tellarian Expanse. Guardian gets an urgent message from the Praetor (misspelled "Preator," although this book has four editors). Trouble on Earth; no, not the Phoenix force, it's the Skornn this time (misspelled Skorrnn). Gladiator thinks it would have been better to destroy Earth long ago. Despite the "non-aggression treaty with Earth" (note: who signed this treaty? the UN? Xavier? Joe Q.?), they plan to go there immediately to deal with the threat.
A Helix takes Skornn to a Hellfire Club satellite office in Manhattan. History vids say the club was a centuries-old association for the aristocracy which was taken over by mutants. There's a party going on inside, for children on the cusp of adulthood. Skornn attacks and feeds, but he wants more.
Cable says there's no reason for him and Stryfe to fight; he says there is, but they shouldn't, anyway; Shatterstar and he threaten one another but don't attack. Stryfe comes as an ally; he convinced Sam, Roberto and the MLF to help, when Cable couldn't get them to trust him. Cable realizes this Stryfe isn't the original, since he's dead (Gambit & Bishop 6). He removes his helmet and reveals himself to be… Domino, an older version, from another timeline where Cable didn't watch her die, but where Skornn killed Cable, which forced her to take up his mantle. In Stryfe's armor. Which Cable gave her as a gift. And it has a holographic projector to make her chin skin not look white. (Hmm…)
She came back to this point in time because it's a watershed, when the fate of mutants and humanity could be decided for generations. She asks Cable to wipe the minds of their teammates, since the MLF won't follow her; his telepathy isn't what it was, so he distracts everyone by giving a rousing speech about saving civilization with the Five Fingers of Annihilation, while dong a telepathic push. Cable and Stryfe shake hands, and their teams ally.
The Thing and the Human Torch arrive to battle Skornn, as TV helicopters watch. But force and flame have little effect, and they're tossed off; Thing tries to think of a plan and is annoyed the Avengers are bankrupt and unable to help. Just then, Cable's and Stryfe's teams arrive, along with Wolverine.
