Rogues Destiny : La Suerte de Matar

Summary

As the blood flows out from Rogue and Remy, the X-Men bow their heads. But a little impaling can't stop a Marvel hero, and Rogue asks for help. Lucas pulls the sword out and yells at Heather to fly and find a hospital; she's concerned about her brother. Rogue's woozy, and she flips through stolen powers, blasting Lucas, but finally getting to Logan's healing factor, while Sage tends to Remy. Berzerk, Rogue takes Vargas's sword and goes for vengeance; she feels guilty about Betsy (iss. 2), and she has Destiny's power, too, and sees it as destiny for her to kill Vargas. Sage realizes the secrets of the diaries were in her this whole time. Rogue kisses Remy; they order each other to stay alive; she flies off, to what Sage thinks is her certain doom.

Vargas carries Shaitan's corpse, which he thinks is Ororo. He orders the Thais twins to get up and process the trophy, and then they'll recover his sword. The twins wonder why he's continuing the fight now that he's overcome Destiny's prediction, but he wants to prove that mutants aren't humanity's future. Rogue knows he'll kill till he's stopped, and she attacks, in Betsy's image. Still wounded and with no extra powers, she gets through the twins, but then Vargas kicks and gets his sword back. Cho reports on the ensuing duel, and Rogue when rescues her from a building Vargas collapses, she herself is trapped under debris.

Heather goes to check on Davis, who thinks she's a leftover alien and is then angry she's been turned into a "monster." Viper comes to check on things and insult everyone; Ororo asks her if she's wearing kevlar and shoots her. Lucas berates her, but Sage takes a dagger to Viper's cheek, warning her against any further attacks.

Rogue is finally able to overcome Vargas's resistance and steal his powers. She's about to impale him, but then she rebels against destiny, siding instead with the possible. She returns to the X-Men, saying it's over, and collapses onto Remy.
