Summary
The Pentagon wants a private conference with Dugan; he's not surprised. First, he contacts a group of men unhappily held in Ft. Leavenworth. He informs them Logan torched what was under a Canadian military base (last iss.), and he's cutting off their comms until further notice, for their own protection. He turns off the video; thinking he's heard something, he draws a gun, but there's nothing in the darkened room. He thinks the men in Ft. Leavenworth are the lucky ones.
Logan is in Belgrade, Serbia (and one wonders why he wears gloves, since you know they'll just get slashed). He had himself smuggled over from Montreal and put out word that he was looking for Bucky Barnes, Capt. America's side-kick in WWII who was later mind-wiped and made a Soviet operative Winter Soldier.
Logan knows Bucky knows; he plans to get a drink, but then he's shot in the head. He runs into an alley, while the sniper continues shooting. He breaks into a building full of printing presses; with the noise, the smell of the ink, and the blood in his eyes, his senses are nearly useless. Bucky sneaks up behind him, stabbing him in the side; Logan sees he's covered himself with ink to cover his scent. He shackles Logan, who realizes Bucky has the upper hand. He feels himself going feral, and he hopes he doesn't kill Bucky.
He lunges, but Bucky knocks him aside; he knows he can't kill Logan, but he says he'll come close. He pulls back Logan's head to slit his throat, but Logan clamps his teeth on his arm, knocks him over, and stands over him, growling, "Upper hand." He pulls the shackles apart and pops his claws; just then the sniper-woman enters, which snaps him out of his feral state, and shoots him.
Bucky says she was supposed to stay on the roof, but she heard screaming. He gives her an ATM pin number and tells her to take enough money so she can go into hiding; men will be after her, maybe Logan. She says Logan's dead, but Bucky knows it's not for long. Bucky won't go with her; he says he's a monster, but she doesn't believe it. He says Logan came after him because he killed his wife and unborn baby.
