Operation Zero tolerance

Summary

  As part of the ongoing X-Men crossover "Operation Zero Tolerance", Wolverine, Cannonball, and Jean, we discover, have also been captured by the Sentinels and brought to Bastion. Jubilee, who was still being held captive by Bastion and who had been used by him to obtain the information about the X-Men and the whereabouts of the X-Mansion, was in shock to see that Wolverine and Jean, whom she considered to be the last of the free X-Men, had been captured too, and slowly realizes how grave the situation was becoming.

  Meanwhile, the guards are taking Jean and Wolverine down to the containment block, which was also known as "The Hole". Bastion reveals to Xavier how he has brought down the X-Men. Bastion talks about Wolverine: how he was "...a perfect symbol of what humanity fears in mutants." Bastion believes that Wolverine did not survive, since he was unconscious and badly hurt. Wolverine was thrown into the incinerator to be cremated.

  In the incinerator, while the gas was being built up inside, Wolverine awakens, smelling gas. He did not realize how he got there, since his body funcitions had shut down while his healing factor was kicking in. Just as the furnace was being ignited, Wolverine leaps out of the incinerator, disabling the two guards in charge of incinerating him. Donning one of the guard's armor, Logan manages to rescue and free Cannonball, Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops. Bastion then realizes the X-Men are free inside the base after one of his men reported how the cameras in the main cell were down, and using the auxiliary cameras, discovered how many of the guards inside there have been knocked out.

  With the X-Men free, they begin to make their way towards the surface. Jean, using a holographic image, is able to trick some guards into believing that the four X-Men were really Bastion, Daria, and three sentinel primes and changes the security password for access to the surface. Bastion seals the surface door, and sends all the sentinel primes to guard it. The X-Men makes it to the door, but are immediately surrounded. Storm, because she is claustrophobic (afraid of enclosed spaces), is free to unleash her energy and destroy nearly all the sentinels sent to attack them. Cyclops attempts to blast the door open, but to no avail. In the control room, Jubilee is able to use her head to hit the button that opens the door, allowing the X-Men to escape. The X-Men are able to escape while collapsing the entranceway around it. Bastion immediately prepares a transfer module to return to the Xavier institute while the four free X-Men slowly realize that they might be the only ones to be able to stop Bastion.
