Summary
Back in Madripoor, two twins, Gar and Larry, comes into the bar owned by O'Donnell with a diamond that we know to be a piece of the Gehenna stone. They order some drinks there and gets a room there for the night.
Meanwhile, back in San Francisco, the four fugitives: Logan, Bert, Arhcie, and Jessica, are heading down the freeway in their stolen car. After a brief confrontation with a police car (which Logan disables by killing the engine with his claws), Bert finally tells them about the legend of the stone, how it supposedly contained the spirit of Ba'al, the leader of a very evil place called Gehenna, which was located new Jerusalem, where all the people with blackened souls commited unholy rituals. During that time, the Lord was disgusted with what was going on there, so he sent a warrior known only as the Hand of God to kill Ba'al. Armed with an unbreakable steel sword and divine rights, he killed Ba'al. His followers encased Ba'al's evil soul in this multi-faced Gem, and afterwards, proceeded to attack the Hand of God. But the Hand of God slays all of his followers, then proceeds to destroy the stone and hurls it away in pieces, hoping that it would never be reassembled again until Doomsday.
But recently, archaeologists have unearthed the pieces, and for some reason now, slowly but surely, the pieces have been disappearing, perhaps being reassembled.
We are then brought back breifly to Madripoor with the twins. We see how they are fighting over the right to hold the stone. Slowly but surely, we recognize that the stone's evil essence is slowly corrupting its beholders.
Back in California, Logan and the rest of them head to the abandoned airport where their plane was held. Little did they know, they would be ambushed there but those same vampires which wanted the stone. Logan senses that the presense of Death was there, too. Logan ends up battling him while the others battled his followers. Unfortunately for them, the vampires managed to get the stone from Bert. The leader and his followers managed to escape on a plane. Logan and his crew follows them in their own plane.
In Madripoor, O'Donnell discoveres that upstairs in their room, the twins had stabbed each other to death, with the piece of stone that they had near them on the ground.
