Bastions of Glory!

Summary

Meeting up with Maverick, Wolverine tells him to back off since Ferro was the one who shot them down in the first place. They all gang up on Maverick, and Sabretooth comments on how Maverick seemed out of place against the old team. Ferro uses this opportunity to initiate a memory in Wolverine's mind about the old team. In his mind, he finds himself slashing at spikes. Next thing he knows, he has a memory of being back at the Weapon X lab in front of the people in charge of the project. Ferro was demonstrating how he could manipulate their memories. The Professor of the project tells Hines how Ferro was the most powerful psi-talent they had ever come across, but Hines had her doubts about using Ferro because he was a criminal mastermind. Ferro's aim was to profit from this project.

Wolverine manages to shake himself back into reality, only to discover that Ferro was still altering the memories of Maverick, Sabretooth, Silver Fox, and Wraith. Only after Hines throws a brick at Ferro does that bring them out of their memories. Hines then starts talking about how Ferro was a psi-borg, and his true intentions was something deeper. He knocks her out, and suddenly, he begins to swell, and blows up. Next thing they know, he disappears, but Logan realizes that he never did blow up, but was just messing with their minds. Hines, though, is found dead. Maverick finds a trap door in the ground, and using some explosive, the former Weapon X members discover an underground facility, and proceeds down to find Ferro.

Back at the X-Mansion, Jean Grey and Professor X monitors a sudden surge of psi energy on Cerebro, and traces it to an island off Seattle.

Back in the castle, the "team" heads down to look for Ferro. They thought they had found him, only to discover that he is messing with their mind once again. Back on the surface, Jubilee discovers that Jean and Professor X had showed up, and calls the "team" back up. Little does she know that Jean and Professor X were actually images created by Ferro, and that he was actually up there waiting for the team to come up to strike.
