Campfire Tales

Summary

Logan, Storm, Cannonball, and Caliban takes a rock climbing trip in the Canadian Rockies. On the top of the mountain, they take a rest and roast s'mores. Cannonball and Caliban are in the mood for campfire stories, and tells Logan to tell one. Logan tells of how he had once lived his life off of booze after the death of his beloved Mariko Yashida. Then Storm came in and gave him a mutated flower that was one of its kind so that he could put it near Mariko's picture. Cannonball and Caliban thought that there would be more action afterwards, but Logan tells them that that was it. Suddenly, Logan senses something nearby.

Nearby, Noah asks Expediter as to whether Logan had detected them. Expediter calmly points out how Logan was talking about the grizzly bear behind them. Noah unleashes an impulse weapon at it, injurying the bear. Unfortunately, it was too late for Expediter to stop him since they were not allowed to reveal themselves there in any form. The two immediately transports out of there. In the meantime, the bear attacks their camp and injures both Logan and Cannonball. Storm was about to unleash her powers on the bear, but Logan stops her, telling her that the bear was just hurt and afraid. he takes a small stone and throws it at the bear's nose, stopping its attack.

Much later, Storm is talking to Logan about how he, despite the changes, was the only one during that situation who did not resort to violence. But inside, Logan thinks to himself how he can't really explain it to his friends that he's changing to something that he never was before, and how he was seeing everything differently as a result.

Elsewhere, Cyber begins to question the Dark Riders as to why they were so interested in his adamantium. They try to get him into a containment cell where there are scraping noises. He manages to break free temporarily away from the Dark Riders, but Genesis comes in and takes out Cyber with a blast from his stun gun. Unconscious, Cyber is thrown into the chamber and mutant death watch beetles are unleashed onto him, eating his flesh away until there was nothing left but Cyber's adamantium skin behind.
