Summary

  Xavier gets Cerebro back online (see UXM 316); it sparks, locating an energy spike in north Jersey. Bishop takes Remy and Dark Beast in the Blackbird; they find a commuter train heading for Penn Station. The commuters plead for help: they have been mutated into monsters, and it is contagious by touching.

  Scott and Jean visit her parents; she gets mad at him for playing games with Joey and Gailyn, obviously testing for telepathic powers. She wants them to stay kids for now.

  Mr. Grey brings their attention to the TV: Graydon has just announced he's running for president, and his platform is fear of mutants. Xavier contacts Ambassador St. Croix, who is part of his mutant underground.

  Dark Beast jokes about letting the whole world be mutated; they break out to the top of the train, trying to stop it before it reaches New York. While Bishop realizes the engineer destroyed the controls, Dark Beast races around finding ingredients for an aerosol anesthetic. Once unconscious, the humans revert to their natural form. Sinister appears and grabs Dark Beast by the throat; he was trying to make guinea pigs.

  Remy realizes they can't derail the train without killing people, so he starts charging the entire engine, to destroy it. Bishop points out he's making a bomb which is racing right into Manhattan.
