Summary

  Mystique morphs into Sabretooth to fight off ninjas who tried to capture her. She doesn't know why and decides she needs help.

  Rogue, Kitty, and Kurt are having a night out in Manhattan. Kurt is upset over the X-Men disbanding, Rogue is angry, and Kitty just doesn't want to think about it tonight.

  The Japanese government sent the agents against Mystique because of a rumored threat to their country.

  Kitty and Rogue go dancing; Rogue is feeling wild, and when a man nearly touches her skin, she slams him across the room. She apologizes; he turns out to be Mystique, who asks for her help.

  Kurt has gone off to pray at church, where Lorna is lighting candles. She doesn't recognize him because of the image inducer and runs. He turns it off and ports to catch her; she is paranoid because she is being followed.

  In Brooklyn, Mastermind and Mesmero plan their operation against Mystique.

  Mystique takes Rogue and Kitty to the ultra-luxurious apartment of her alias B. Byron Biggs, billionaire recluse. She tells Rogue her story: she was on vacation and accepted an offer to be a model, becoming famous as Ronnie Lake. Then she was attacked in Milan and has been running since.

  Kurt tells Lorna he's sorry about Alex's death (X-Factor 149). Her heart is still telling her he's alive.

  Rogue investigates Lake's apartment, which has been trashed, probably by government agents. She finds Mystique's high-tech telescope, then gets jumped by ninjas who think she's Mystique. She beats them off, but then Sunfire arrives and blasts her.
