Summary

  The cyborg rebuilds itself and spars with Logan. It shoots shafts, impaling him. Suddenly its abdomen explodes, and it falls. A robot appears, gun-hand still smoking. He says that was a Mandate, and you have to destroy its orb-core to kill it. Humans including Fusa appear; she asks if Logan's all right; he pulls the shafts from his chest and collapses.

  The robot carries Logan through a ruined, futuristic city and to the human settlement. His healing factor kicks in, but he's still unconscious, possibly from the stress of the teleportation plus the battle.

  Takeo goes to the medic; he doesn't feel well after being on the surface. A friend finds him in the hall and asks if he's okay; his face is ruined, and a tendril shoots out from it, into his friend's head.

  Logan wakes on a slab, not remembering anything, so Fusa introduces herself again. This is a future Earth, 11 years after the Mandate attack in 2047. Fusa brought him there to fight for them; the robot is called the Colonel, and his gun is their last weapon, with little ammo left.

  An alarm is called: there's a Mandate in the facility, and it seems that Takeo was infected. The Colonel reminds the humans to shoot carefully to expose the orb-core, so he can destroy it. He misses, though, and it escapes to the upper levels. Logan is quickly after it, jumping on its back and killing it. Now he wants some questions answered.
