Summary

Note: this is part of Onslaught Phase 2.

Inside Onslaught, Franklin tries to get "Doctor X" to help him, but Xavier is catatonic. Onslaught reappears and wants Franklin's help; Franklin says he doesn't want to conquer the world.

Uatu and Apocalypse observe and discuss the situation. Blue lips is impressed with the amount of damage Xavier has caused. Uatu tells him Onslaught is a new form of life, and that gets him thinking about his own survival.

Reed has collected data on Onslaught and returns to the lab. The X-Men, Avengers and Fantastic Four battle Onslaught's citadel and rescue civilians. Joseph is surprised to see the humans are afraid of him; Remy tells him he's not responsible for Magneto's crimes; Rogue hugs Remy to thank him for that.

Iron Man rouses himself after Onslaught's E-M pulse (X-Men II:55) and uses the plans Scott brought to make psionic armor.

Sue Richards is impatient: her boy is in there. Scott gets her to wait, then Ororo shows up with Cable.

Xavier wakes up and tells Franklin not to help Onslaught. Onslaught says he has grown beyond Xavier, and he no longer has his telepathic powers. Then Joseph attacks Onslaught from the outside; he and Xavier each vow to kill him. Onslaught lets the heroes see Xavier, to show he is no longer him. But that gives them freedom to attack. Cable mentally enhances Joseph's magnetism; Scott removes his visor to blast full force; Sue uses her force field to pry open the resulting crack; then Thor swoops in and rescues Xavier.

That should end things, but instead Onslaught declares his freedom. He has the combined powers of Xavier, Magneto, and Franklin, and sends a second blast wave across the city. Sue and Cable erect shields to protect the heroes.

Apocalypse says this is beyond madness. Uatu indicates Cable is the answer.

  Note: Phase 2 continues in Cable 35, X-Man 19, Avengers 402, Fantastic Four 416, and X-Men II:56.
