Magneto Superior

Summary

  Magneto looks out a window at a transformed New York, enmeshed with metal strands among the skyscrapers. He remembers floating down the street, wreaking havoc, and congratulates himself. He decides to call it New Genosha (cf. iss. 115) and that is was worth all that time pretending to be Xorn so he could attack the X-Men one at a time. He plans an empire with magnetic monorails (cf. Hitler's Autobahn).

  Esme interrupts his soliloquy to tell him they brought Xavier; she did all this for him and wants to be thanked; he says mutants will be kings now, and the class his new Brotherhood. Ernst doesn't understand where Xorn went; Basilisk says Magneto was acting, which makes him a "Xornvestite," and laughs at his own joke. Esme would never hang out with people like these, and even Toad calls them losers. Magneto says they were all losers, once.

  Magneto addresses the crowd, saying his message (iss. 132) was a virus that knocked out all technology. The crowd doesn't react: he's supposed to be dead, and they're not sure what to think. Military jets approach, and he demonstrates his power, shivering them, but the crowd's confused: they can't see him in the skyscraper window. Magneto and Esme go to the lavatory, and she gives him Kick, which he's depending on to enhance his powers.

  Toad tries to work the crowd, but they call for Magneto, and he levitates above them, blaming them for Genosha and for destroying the world in search of oil. He rejoicing in the genetic trigger that has doomed non-mutants (iss. 116) and plans to deliver the killing blow and starts with the statue of Mercury on Grand Central Station, many cars, Manhattan Bridge, and Liberty Island.

  That night, Esme brandishes a whip while telepathically prodding humans into Central Park, where mutants can rip them to shreds. Basilisk and Beak are taken aback; Magneto wishes he could exterminate all humans at once, but somebody has to empty the trash. He tells Xavier he's remade the school into a training camp, and he remembers destroying the mansion. He has Xavier naked in a tank and demands he admit he was right.
