Summary
The Medieval casino tracks Logan on security cameras. He takes the external elevator they left for him up the side of the building to the tower, while John watches, satisfied. But then Logan uses a black marker to draw his hair on the windshield and tapes his shirt to it, to fool them while he slips out the bottom of the elevator, slices up some guards, and sneaks in. John is furious when he realizes he was fooled and orders the guard doubled; he goes to the Ecstasy, walking right through the security door as a ghost.
Logan makes it to the Ecstasy and is shocked to see what it is; John asks to explain: he wants to blow a hole in Nevada to disrupt the economy, and then buy into the stock market. He plans a hostile takeover of the U.S., which means no more mutant registrations. Logan says while John was busy blaming "the man," he was working; he removes a circuit board from the bomb and holds it in his hand, and John lunges at him in ghost form. Logan says it was never about freedom, but just money; they fight, and John dares him to call himself a saint, after what he did to Xavier, and Rose (Wolverine: The Origin 6), and the children he abandoned because he never loved their mother and they weren't mutants.
Logan informs him the bomb has an "Ecstasy" trigger, Holzer Enterprises circa 2023, which are fragile and rare. John says he can have another manufactured but says Logan holds all the cards and offers a deal: they'll warn the city to evacuate first, if Logan joins him. Logan refuses and crushes the circuit board; John orders his men to fire machine guns, but Logan slips through the elevator doors.
John follows; they spar on the elevator car. John says he'll kill him and then have another trigger made while he posts bail; Logan will have died in vain without ever learning why he took that name for himself. Logan slashes the hook on top of the car, and it falls to the ground; he and John land hard in the woods, and Logan guts his brother.
Dying, John says he wishes it ended differently, and that he had time to tell him about Rose. He says he was always proud of him, and he dies. Logan holds his body. Police arrive.
