Summary

  Skids and Rusty train, prompting Skids' memories of an abused childhood. Her first name is revealed to be Sally. She runs into the Morlock tunnels, followed by Rusty, and ineffectively attacked by Masque.

  Scott and Jean arrange Warren's funeral.

  Rusty is reminded of Emma (whose face he burnt in iss. 1). He makes a deal with Masque. He heals Emma, and Rusty lets him ruin his own face. Masque then reneges and re-ruins Emma. Skids learns to control her force field, and she and Rusty force Masque to heal Rusty.

  Emma is still disfigured, but she has had a religious conversion and decides she has no need of earthly beauty. She descends into the Morlock tunnels to preach the gospel to them.
