Judgment War

Summary

  Warren is a captive of the Chosen and reminisces: as a child picked on by others and feeling alone, different, and separate.

  In New York City, the boy Michael heals a blind man, which starts a street fight. Greg and Donny take him to a home for young mutants run by Philip, who scans his mind. His father had beaten him as a child because he was a mutant.

  Warren breaks up a drug deal, but it turns out that a child (Greg) was selling drugs to an adult, so he flies off in disgust. He has a moral crisis about right and wrong.

  Philip beats Beth, who had tried to escape, and then has Michael heal her. She tries to escape again, and Philip has Michael use his power to un-heal her as punishment. Warren burst in through the window and is defeated by Philip's telepathy. Beth, also a telepath, fells Philip.

  Philip is arrested, the cult is broken up, and Michael and Beth remain in New York to try to help people, but choose not to be superheroes (they don't like spandex).
