Summary

  Forge has ignored Naze and Roma's advice and prepared technological defenses against the Adversary, which he gets through by temporarily possessing Mystique.

  Sabretooth is fitted with a state-of-the-art restraining collar. Val learns he is to be a member of X-Factor and is furious.

  Weapons prove ineffective against the Adversary, who traps Roma and kills X-Factor, just as Forge's fellow soldiers were killed in Vietnam. Forge still refuses to fight magic with magic, and loses his bionic hand and leg. The Adversary leaves to destroy the world and promises to return and kill Forge last. Naze then appears, wanting to prepare Forge to fight the Adversary mystically.
