Summary

  Ness finds Nate's ground zero in the Yukon (iss. 39). Scientists have found a strange radioactive metal in the tundra. They are suddenly surrounded by Gauntlet, who demand they hand over Nate, but Maddie has already ported him back to Switzerland.

  Nate suddenly realizes that Threnody might be able to drain all the lethal energies from him. He goes into the psi-plane to locate her, but runs into Maddie, who is jealous.

  Ness runs an ice drill into Gauntlet and announces he's broadcasting everything, which scares them off. (He was bluffing.) He sees the radioactive metal, shasteel, and says since they touched it, they owe their lives.

  Maddie fights Nate, trying to make him stay, but he continues his search. Then he is felled by an overwhelming blast across the entire psi-plane (see X-Men II:77).
