Summary

  Emma holds telepathic group therapy; all the X-Men blame themselves for not protecting Northstar from Logan (iss. 25), for being scared and stupid. Emma assures them they couldn't predict the outcome. Logan's the most guilty of all, now that he's deprogrammed. He's been calling and hanging up, unable to find the words.

  SHIELD Emergency Outpost, location unknown: Weinberg finds Logan alone in a dark room, more sane than last time he saw him. He doesn't feel better despite killing all those people: revenge doesn't make you happy. Weinberg tells him to get ready to attack Hydra. Logan asks about Northstar; Weinberg takes him to see him. They've tried to deprogram him like they did Logan, but a thousand simulations a second for a week, he's is still vicious. "Maybe it's just harder coming to terms with being murdered by a friend."

  Logan takes a shower. Special Forces has a training technique: they give you a bunny for a week, which you become attached to. Then they make you kill and eat it. It's the most important lesson: to be able to turn yourself off, to become less than human to get the job done. Logan thinks of Ichiro's son; Logan's killed 5,000 for him, with 47,000 to go.

  Dugan fills in for Fury; they're planning attacks on all 7 Hydra death-factories; an extinction-level plot demands an equivalent response. No other superheroes are involved, since it will be a massacre. Elektra and Logan are up for it; Logan notes SHIELD is still nervous about him, since he killed 400 of them. Dugan regrets Fury is in the hospital; he's been fighting Hydra for 50 years, and now he'll miss it all. Logan offers to take pictures.

  One AIM facility is working on Reed Richard's design for "Null," an android able to take out Galactus. It's just one of 8,000 super-weapon ideas on Richard's disc, hence the need to attack without restraint. SHIELD offered super-villains time off their jail sentences and sets them on AIM.

  Gorgon and Elsbeth enjoy a private moment; he asks if she's afraid of him; she says everyone is. He says his plot to destroy all life is a strike against God and wonders if he's seen as cruel, when his motives are more pure than Von Strucker's. She thinks he's wasting his time meeting with all the super-criminal fraternities: they care about nothing but power, but he wants them to know he's in charge. She asks if it'll be painful when they launch their weapons; death is abstract when you've lived as long as she.

  Gorgon realizes their European bases are under attack; then a missile bursts through a window and explodes. He looks for her in the rubble, but she's not moving. SHIELD beams in alpha team including Logan and Wolverine, and they both attack Gorgon. They're equipped with everything SHIELD has: teleporters, intangible switch, psi-blockers, light-sensitivity; they draw blood. Then Gorgon picks up a fallen beam and whacks away. Elektra's psi-blocks are broken, and Logan realizes that if she was defeated, he has no chance. Gorgon beats him down.

  SHIELD is doing well in Amsterdam and Brussels, and the Rhino is destroying the St. Petersburg's factory. Dugan is worried about New York and preps the beta team.

  Gorgon picks up a sword and tries to kill Logan but beheads many SHIELD agents. He says they're idiots: it's not Von Strucker they're fighting. He impales Logan in the throat, pinning him to a wall. SHIELD has evacuated the civilians from the building, and Dugan frantically orders the second team in, but Gorgon has already read Elektra's mind and knows where Fury is. He teleports them there.

  SHIELD hospital, W 24th St.: they're alerted to a security breach. Meanwhile, Logan tells agents to get the sword out of his throat, and that the Gorgon is going to kill Fury.
