Summary

  West Mifflin: Star Brand beats on Creed; Clarice goes to separate them before Creed gets mad. Westgate Village Apts.: Proteus attacks Justice, who shields himself and counters. "You never dreamed that Justice would find you!" In both battles, Creed and Proteus fight savagely. Clarice tells Kevin to stop Creed, since he won't be able to stop himself. Proteus's aura fades as he exhausts Calvin's body; at the last moment he jumps into Justice's body. Kevin morphs into a saber-toothed tiger and jumps Creed, enveloping him like a strait-jacket (but he still bites him). Calvin's withered husk drops to the floor at Proteus's feet.

  Clarice yells at Star Brand for fighting when they came to help; Kevin explains Proteus is coming to steal his body. Proteus adjusts to Justice's fake memories of being a "Justice Warrior" instead of just a super-powered cop. When two normal cops arrive, having been called about a domestic disturbance, he uses his reality-altering powers to give them hallucinations, making one shoot the other.

  Star Brand asks why they lied to him about being from this Earth (last iss.); they blame Heather. Creed calms down, and Kevin releases him. Heather has Creed tell Star Brand that Proteus is in his apartment, waiting to steal his body. Star Brand worries about his friends and family, and Heather can't scan through Proteus's temporal smoke screen; they need to defeat him before he uses up Calvin's body, and Heather has a plan involving Nightmask.

  Clarice blinks them to Star Brand's apartment; Debbie runs into his arms, and he sends her home for safety. Inside, they find dead police and Star Brand's address book open to Debbie's name. Clarice finds Calvin's body and hugs it.

  Post Oak Apts: Debbie finds Proteus in her apartment. He tosses her around while waiting for Star Brand. Clarice ports in and ports out with her to safety; Proteus is surprised she didn't immediately attack him.

  Star Brand wants to do just that, but Clarice says now that Calvin is dead, they have time to follow Heather's plan.

  They find Nightmask at the Ballad Dream Institute; seeing Creed and Kevin, he's convinced of the rest of their story, but he wonders how his dream powers can help them against Proteus. Clarice says a telepathic attack may work, and Heather is working on a back-up plan.

  In the Mojoverse, every channel's the same and boring since Mojo cancelled Longshot's rebellion. He flips channels and suddenly sees alternate realities; he asks his Major Domo if there's a rival network, but it's Heather, who puts herself on camera and offers him a deal. He can have programs from all those worlds, in exchange for something she says he'll never miss.
