Summary

  Sparkplug and the other Minicons arrive at Autobase via the Space Bridge, only to find the Autobots gravely gathered around Optimus Prime -- an unfamiliar, alien Optimus Prime, battered to near-death...

  In downtown San Francisco, while the Minicon Over-Run starts working at an abandoned construction site in hopes of making contact with Optimus Prime, five mysterious mechanoids arrive via an energy portal to Decepticon Command Headquarters on Cybertron. Tersely, their leader sets them to their tasks, and warns that failure will not be tolerated -- this reality will be consumed...!

  Back at Autobase, Smokescreen explains that the mysterious Optimus was already present when he returned from Death Valley. Astroscope theorizes that it is from an alternate universe, prompting the others to speculate. Suddenly, Optimus Prime grabs Red Alert's hand, muttering about crumbling walls and chaos, then falls inert for the last time. At the Decepticons' headquarters in Nebraska, Leader-1 reports that the Decepticon transporter isn't working because of disruptions in the inter-spatial network, and Megatron sends Starscream and Demolishor to investigate.

  Meanwhile, as the Earth Autobots are conferring with Jetfire, Sparkplug reports a mysterious energy trace in California. Hot Shot leads a team to investigate, and they trace the energy to a strange trans-dimensional ship. They follow the ship's energy to his present location, unaware that they are followed by Starscream and Thrust, while Demolishor sets off to retrieve the pod.

  In nearby San Francisco, Over-Run's signal transmitter has attracted several visitors: Hot Shot and the Minicons, Starscream, and the leader of the dimensional visitors -- Galvatron! Galvatron easily swats aside all challengers and seeks the artifact Over-Run is carrying, but Over-Run disappears in the confusion when Galvatron fends off Thrust. After Galvatron leaves, Mirage and Over-Run reappear from Mirage's invisibility, and Over-Run warns that the situation has gotten desperate...

  In another time and place, Optimus Prime wanders the shattered remains of Cybertron. He bumps into an unknown mechanoid, who babbles furiously about an unstoppable threat ... who will return to devour the world!
