Summary
The Exiles have to help Doom stop Namor from invading Latveria. Distasteful, at best, but Clarice insists, since Namor has captured Doom's castle and used its technology to trap 20,000 troops under a force field. They plan to alter the atmosphere so they can breathe but humans can't.
They have to deal with both problems, so Calvin makes the decision easy for Clarice and goes alone to the castle. En route, he remembers his universe and how much he misses it. There superheroes are popular. His father was a brilliant scientist, but his ideas were all stolen and he became bitter. Calvin grew up to be a small-time crook, unaware of his mutant power till he accidentally ran into the X-Men in a store. He felt their power and tracked them around, feeding on it. Next morning, he had wings and big feet. He joined the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, fought the X-Men with them, and was abandoned with they lost. Xavier visited him in jail in Fort Terahawk, asked him what he wanted out of life, and offered to take him to the school. Calvin agreed to get out of jail but soon found a new home. Surprisingly, the X-Men weren't jealous of him copying their powers but felt bonded to him, and he became team leader. He misses his friends, Beast and Wolverine, his chain of record stores, and the charity he runs with Angel. He realizes he may not love Clarice, but just clings to her in this bizarre situation.
He uses Doom's secret entrance to the castle and fights Doombots that the Atlanteans reprogrammed. He hopes that's all they've done, but then he enters a room full of angry Doombots.
