Summary
Cable had been mentally manipulated to think that Caliban was all right (X-Force 70); the touch of Apocalpyse is now evident. Caliban felt abandoned and considers his old friends enemies; when Proudstar tries to approach him, he stuff him. He runs off, and Cable uncharacteristically stays to help Proudstar.
Deathbird has mentally summoned Caliban to her Egyptian base; she is now War, and she is helping Apocalypse destroy Earth so she will have an easier time with the rest of the universe.
In Westchester, Cyclops and Phoenix discuss Cable, sensing something bad. Stacey and Irene both miss Cable.
Cable and X-Force track Caliban; Deathbird says they are all infected with a mental virus that causes delirium. Cable goes onto the psi-plane to combat it; some of X-Force are there, trapped by Caliban, while others are still awake battling Egyptian flunkies who are made of sand. Cable sends the rest of the team back to their bodies; too late he realizes the whole thing was a ruse to get him to leave his body vulnerable. He is now physically captive of Apocalypse; he and X-Force each blame themselves for the failure.
