Summary
American tourists in Lima, Peru, complain and walk past a car that explodes. The Shining Path, local (real-world) Marxist terrorists, takes credit. The leader, Sanz, is imprisoned, and Cable is in a diner near the jail, getting hit on by the waitress.
In a nearby village, children are intimidated by the Shining Path and then play soldiers and peasants with toy guns.
Cable's T-O arm goes spastic; he drops a Coke bottle and tosses a coin to the urchin who retrieves it. He expects the Shining Path to free Sanz, and when he hears them coming, he races out, ducks gunfire, and high-jumps over the prison wall. Inza gets to Sanz's cell first and finds him, old, decrepit, and chained. She frees him, and the mutant Maria teleports them away; Cable is too late.
Esteban, a petty criminal, flees but is caught by the police.
Cable meditates in his hotel room, levitating upside-down in his undies.
Inza shows Sanz the camp at Ayacucho: cocaine production and recruitment are up. She had the Legacy Virus, but when cured (Uncanny X-Men 390), she renewed the struggle.
Cable goes to the car bomb site and finds and reassembles the bomb fragments.
The police torture Esteban till he reveals the camp, then shoot him. Cable gets there first, having psi-scanned the bomb parts dealer. He sneaks in, but the kid he flipped a coin to sees him and raises the alarm (ingrate). Cable is surrounded.
