Summary

Cable fights the Shining Path single-handedly and is eventually captured.

An NSA listening post in Antarctica locates Goldberg in Lima.

Cable is bound, and his T-O virus is acting up; his TK isn't functioning, and his telepathy is just strong enough to scare away some gawking kids.

Nazario, the finance minister, is angry his daughter has a rose tattoo and is hanging around with trash. Shining Path women break in, take them hostage, and start shooting.

Sanz questions Cable, who denies working for the U.S. Women beat him with rifle butts, and Sanz claims the Shining Path will let mutants and humans live in harmony. He favors Communism to empower the workers; Cable wants to show the people how to fend for themselves. Sanz leaves orders for Inza to kill him as he walks past the cocaine workers.

In Lima, a Jeep crashes out of a parking deck and into a bank's office across the street, exploding.

A boy, Philippe, brings food to Cable, while he is meditating. He wants to learn, so Cable enters his mind and guides him telepathically. They imagine the shape of the Phoenix, and something goes wrong.

One of the girls goes to the outhouse at night and gets ambushed and garroted. Inza is in Cable's cell, seducing and then slapping him. She's still loyal to Sanz; Cable tackles her as the wall explodes. Police are attacking the camp, and the women are losing. Inza points a gun at Cable.
